podcasting

Here’s a confession: Exactly five years ago, I skipped school to record the very first episode my very first podcast, “Jeric’s Confessions.”

Seriously.

The night before September 5, 2005, I was watching Studio 23′s “Digital Tour” and they happen to have a feature about podcasting and that very moment I knew that I should have my own podcast show. Podcasting is like having your own radio show! After that show aired, I rushed to our family PC to search for podcasts that I could listen to.

The morning of September 5, 2005, I told my mom that I’m not going to school. My reason for skipping school? My tummy was aching. It was my school’s foundation week, anyway, and I didn’t want to be under the scorching heat of the sun to practice for our field demonstration. So there. I fired up the computer, plugged in my cheap dynamic microphone and recorded the first episode of “Jeric’s Confessions” and the rest is history.

I really can’t remember what I talked about during the first episode of “Jeric’s Confessions.” What I could clearly remember about it is the background music I’ve used for that particular episode–Missy Elliot’s Work It.

WHAT WAS I THINKING? SERIOUSLY.

HEY! I just want to write a quick blog post about Brink Notes Podcast Network. Well, Brink Notes Podcast Network is a collection of the podcasts I have produced since September 2005.

Brink Notes Podcast Network started with the launch of my very first podcast show, Jeric’s Confessions, on September 5, 2005.

Alongside with the relaunch of the Brink Notes Podcast Network, I have also launched a new podcast show, EDUC Today. EDUC Today is a 30-minute weekly podcast  that discusses and explains different educational issues affecting the teachers and students of today. From choosing your degree program to deciding whether to pursue a doctoral degree, this podcast is for everyone interested in becoming informed and educated on innovations and issues involving the academe.

I have decided to create podcast focusing on education after the success of my education blog, Distance Education in the Philippines. Please check out the first episode of EDUC Today.

I hope you can drop by Brink Notes Podcast Network and check out some of the shows. Thanks! ;)

2009 Philippine Blog Awards

2009 Philippine Blog Awards

I am grateful that one of my podcasts, Brink Notes Entertainment Daily Podcast, is a finalist for the podcast category of the 2009 Philippine Blog Awards. In 2008, my other podcast, Brink Notes Podcast, was also one of the finalists for the podcast category but I wasn’t that lucky to win. The 2009 Philippine Blog Awards would be held on October 9, 2009, 6pm at the PETA Theatre in Quezon City.

I’m very happy that I’ve been a Philippine Blog Awards finalists for the past two years. The recognition really means a lot to me. I didn’t start podcasting to earn awards instead I started podcasting because it is my dream to became a radio DJ/announcer, and it is through podcasting that I was able to fulfill it somehow. To those who have been with me since I started podcasting in 2005 up to this day, thank you very much for your support. Win or lose, I’ll forever be grateful to everyone who appreciates what I’m doing in the World Wide Web.

My vote for the 2009 Bloggers’ Choice Special Award goes to Mica Rodriguez of Micamyx. I’ve known her for quite some time, and I know that she really deserves the award.
