Whatnots
Last January 1, I have posted an entry on this blog with the title My Goals for 2010. I simply enumerated in that post, well, the things I want to accomplish for this year. Now, let me give you, my dear readers, an update or updates on how I’m doing so far with regards to accomplishing my goals this year.
Goal #1 – Finish my associate’s degree and graduate by May 8, 2010.
Goal #1 Status: ACCOMPLISHED (with flying colors). I graduated from the UP Open University last May 8, 2010 with an Associate in Arts Degree. The ceremony was held at the UP Open University Headquarters at Los Baños, Laguna. To know more about this momentous event in my life, read “I’m now an AA Graduate” at the Distance Education in the Philippines blog.

Few months before the May 10, 2010 elections, I wasn’t sure if I’ll be able to vote. I registered to vote last October 2009 with my sister, Dianne, during the COMELEC satellite registration thing here in our barangay. Everything went great and the whole registration thing was hassle-free. However, months after registering to vote, I checked my records using COMELEC’s online precinct finder but it seems my records are nowhere to be found. Just imagine how frustrated I was upon knowing that there’s a chance that I cannot exercise my right to vote because my records are nowhere to be found.
Few days before the D-Day, I still can’t find my records on COMELEC’s online precinct finder. However, our house help, who’s a PPCRV (Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting) volunteer, told me that my name is actually in the list of voters. I was relieved. And so, during the eve of election day, I made a list of the candidates that I’ll be voting for—from the president up to councilors. Click to continue reading »

I just noticed that I didn’t have any posts for the month of March yet. Well, I haven’t updated my blogs for quite some time. I don’t know. But, for the past few months, I became a studyholic. I’ve been focusing on my studies a lot, which I think is a good thing especially now that I’m a graduating student. I’m not yet completely done with my course requirements for the semester. But, I’m almost there. I just need to pass our Philosophy paper (group) and present my speech. By next week, I shall be free!
Since I got a lot of free time in my hands (well, not really), I decided to reread Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret. I have listened to the audiobook before but I didn’t pay much attention. In simple words, the law of attraction is the greatest secret.
I must admit that I worry about almost everything. Plus, I’m a bit pessimistic too. But I tell you, I’m trying my best to only think about positive thoughts and worry not about every little thing. So far, I think I’m doing well.
I live in a musical world. Of course, I’m kidding. But there are times when I worry and nervous about many things, I usually “sing” in my mind songs like “Everything’s Alright” (from Jesus Christ Superstar) or “Positive” (from Legally Blonde the Musical). I know, it’s weird!
I think I’m digressing too much. Back to the original topic.
One of the things I learned from reading The Secret is the power of visualization. If you want something, you need to visualize and believe that you have it. So, I turned my cork board into a “vision board” wherein I put up pictures of the things I want and I would look at them everyday and visualize as if I already have them.
What’s on my “vision board”? Click to continue reading »
