Blogging

Is “wishy” even a word? I don’t know. But, I’m feeling a bit materialistic today. So, I decided to list the things that I want but I can’t have at the moment because of, you know, money issues. Yes, issues, with an s.

Because of my tendency to “consider material possessions and physical comfort as more important than spiritual values,” I already failed to meet one of my goals for this year—2010. But, I’m sorry. I’m just a human being. I’m fragile, frail and all that. There’s just too much temptations in this world! Why, oh, why?

But who cares? Let me give you a rundown on the things that I currently want in no particular order. Remember, this is only the first in a series of posts on the things that I currently want. Stay tuned for more!

1. Six Feet Under: The Complete Series (DVD)

My Plurk and Twitter friend, Cate, has been tweeting and plurking (and even Tumblr-ing) about this television show. So, I got curious and I decided to check the show out. So, I watched some episodes and I got hooked right away. I’m only halfway through the first season; but, damn, this show’s really good! Seriously! If you’re feeling extra morbid then go and check this show out.

Everything’s really good about this show—from the cadavers up to the hearses! No, I’m not overreacting. Go see just one episode. I promise you that you’ll gonna love it!

This show is like the Grey’s Anatomy of embalmers and funeral directors! And I’m not even kidding.

2. Heil PR-40 Dynamic Studio Recording Microphone with Accessories

So after five years of producing podcasts, I decided to be really serious with it. In fact, I invested in a couple of podcasting gears early this year. Now that the Brink Notes Podcast Network is real real, I guess, it’s time for me to really invest in good podcasting equipment to improve the quality of my shows—audio quality, that is.

I know that the Heil PR-40 is quite expensive. Well, IT IS expensive. But, a lot of podcasters use it. So, it must be good.

Of course, the Heil PR-40 must come with accessories including but not limited to a windscreen, a mic boom arm, and a shock mount.

Heil PR-40 is like the Holy Grail, you know. And, I’ll own one pretty soon. That’s for sure.

3. Apple iPad MB292LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wifi)

After switching to BlackBerry, one of the iPhone features that I missed the most is the Apple App Store. I check the iTunes App Store once in a while and I’m amazed at the diversity of the applications that are available nowadays. Besides, iPad is so attractive!

Imagine, I can do a lot of things with an iPad—from reading a newspaper to editing a document. Really.

iPad! iPad! I want an iPad!

Yes! The first semester of academic year 2010-2011 has just ended for me. Hooraaay!

To be honest, I’m still speechless right now. I can’t believe that my first semester as a “regular” student is finally over. My first semester  was fine despite the electrical problem at my college. Yes, my college doesn’t have electricity for more than a month now! Just imagine holding classes at the corridors or even at the college garden (under a tree!). It was horrible and ridiculous all at the same time! Nevertheless, I can say that I did enjoy my first semester.

I’m not really sure how I performed this semester. But, I believe I did just fine.

What should I expect for the second semester? I have no idea. Plus, I don’t want to talk about the second semester yet. I just hope that by next semester, the electricity problem/s at my college will be fixed.

So, what will I do during my vacation? Well, I’ll probably work on stuff for Brink Notes Podcast Network. In fact, I have so many plans for BNCAST to the point that I don’t know what to work on first. Seriously. I’m actually thinking of adding a new show to the current BNCAST show line-up and I hope that this vacation will allow me to do that. Pretty exciting!

See you around!

WordCamp Philippines 2010, yo!

WordCamp Philippines 2010, yo!

Guess who attended WordCamp Philippines 2010 this year? Who? Who? No, the answer’s not Matt Mullenweg.

So, yeah, I attended WordCamp Philippines 2010 held at the De La Salle – College of St. Benilde last Saturday, October 2, 2010. I moved mountains just to attend this once a year event on WordPress. Seriously. The past few days have been very busy for me! It’s great to see people from all over the country (even the world!) converging in one venue to talk about the awesome blogging platform, WordPress. How geeky, right?

Blah. Blah. Blah.

Oh, I also attended three breakaway sessions that were really informative, educational and what else?

  1. Elaine Poh and Colin Ho’s talk on Wicked WordPress Theming Techniques
  2. Kring Elenzano’s The Internet is not just for Porn (Videos can be wholesome, too!)
  3. Gail Villanueva’s Adding Muscle to your WordPress Site

Of course, there was also a town hall meeting something something with WordPress founding developer Matt Mullenweg. Snaps!

And, oh, I attended WCPH with my mom and my sister, Dianne. Cool, right? Wait, there’s more! We also got snazzy certificates to jazz up our CV! So sad that we didn’t get to bring home some Krispy Kreme gift certificates! But, who cares? We enjoyed the event, anyway.

Snazzy WordCamp Philippines 2010 Certificate, yo!

Want to know more about my WordCamp Philippines 2010 experience? I suggest that you listen to EDUC Today #013 where I talked about, well, WordCamp Philippines 2010.

Congratulations, Avatar Media!

Woot!

Here’s a confession: Exactly five years ago, I skipped school to record the very first episode my very first podcast, “Jeric’s Confessions.”

Seriously.

The night before September 5, 2005, I was watching Studio 23′s “Digital Tour” and they happen to have a feature about podcasting and that very moment I knew that I should have my own podcast show. Podcasting is like having your own radio show! After that show aired, I rushed to our family PC to search for podcasts that I could listen to.

The morning of September 5, 2005, I told my mom that I’m not going to school. My reason for skipping school? My tummy was aching. It was my school’s foundation week, anyway, and I didn’t want to be under the scorching heat of the sun to practice for our field demonstration. So there. I fired up the computer, plugged in my cheap dynamic microphone and recorded the first episode of “Jeric’s Confessions” and the rest is history.

I really can’t remember what I talked about during the first episode of “Jeric’s Confessions.” What I could clearly remember about it is the background music I’ve used for that particular episode–Missy Elliot’s Work It.

WHAT WAS I THINKING? SERIOUSLY.
