The Secret: The Law of Attraction and the Vision Board Sorcery

I just noticed that I didn’t have any posts for the month of March yet. Well, I haven’t updated my blogs for quite some time. I don’t know. But, for the past few months, I became a studyholic. I’ve been focusing on my studies a lot, which I think is a good thing especially now that I’m a graduating student. I’m not yet completely done with my course requirements for the semester. But, I’m almost there. I just need to pass our Philosophy paper (group) and present my speech. By next week, I shall be free!

Since I got a lot of free time in my hands (well, not really), I decided to reread Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret. I have listened to the audiobook before but I didn’t pay much attention. In simple words, the law of attraction is the greatest secret.

I must admit that I worry about almost everything. Plus, I’m a bit pessimistic too. But I tell you, I’m trying my best to only think about positive thoughts and worry not about every little thing. So far, I think I’m doing well.

I live in a musical world. Of course, I’m kidding. But there are times when I worry and nervous about many things, I usually “sing” in my mind songs like “Everything’s Alright” (from Jesus Christ Superstar) or “Positive” (from Legally Blonde the Musical). I know, it’s weird!

I think I’m digressing too much. Back to the original topic.

One of the things I learned from reading The Secret is the power of visualization. If you want something, you need to visualize and believe that you have it. So, I turned my cork board into a “vision board” wherein I put up pictures of the things I want and I would look at them everyday and visualize as if I already have them.

What’s on my “vision board”?

Well, there’s a picture of the Oblation wearing the Sablay with the date May 8, 2010 (for my graduation), a cardboard wherein 1.0 is written (for good grades),  a picture of Serendra (my dream condominium unit), a picture of Benitez Hall, College of Education (my dream college), and logos of different universities where I want to study (for my graduate studies).

My "Visualization Board" :)

My Vision Board : )

I know that having a “vision board” alone wouldn’t make my dreams come true. Nevertheless, that “vision board” helps me to be focused and be motivated.

When I was dreaming of having a Blackberry phone, I decided to make the Blackberry Bold 9000 my laptop’s wallpaper. I would see it every time I open and close my laptop and it kept me focused and motivated to save for that phone. Few months (or weeks) after, I was able to buy it!

So, what do you think of The Secret, The Law of Attraction and this “vision board” sorcery?

The Secret? Isn’t that widely regarded as complete BS? LOL. I think a vision board is a great idea, though. Go lang ng go, koya! Aja!

Yeah. If I remember correctly, The Simpsons kinda derided it one time. Tapos sa SATC Movie, Samantha Jones was reading it tapos tinapon niya, then the Carrie Bradshaw voiceover said something about the book being a bunch of New Age crap or something? :) ) To each his own, I guess. If it works for you, then there’s no reason not to stick with it, right?
