November 2009

I jumped into the BlackBerry bandwagon last October after months of contemplating, saving, wishing and hoping. Why I made the switch from the iPhone to the BlackBerry? I simply got tired of the iPhone’s touchscreen. So, there you go! I made the switch from being an iPhone user to being a BlackBerry user. I’m with Globe right now and I never regretted a thing except for the ridiculous monthly service fee that I need to pay and the poor 3G signal in my area.

I squealed like a pig (literally) when I found out this morning that SMART is now offering the first and only Unlimited BlackBerry Plans in the country. SMART is really smart unlike the competitor, who offered BlackBerry 8520 prepaid phone kits a couple of months ago without even thinking that there’s also a need for them to offer prepaid BlackBerry data plans so their customers could use the phone’s features (push e-mail, internet browsing, instant messaging, etc). In fact, a couple of people already suggested on the Globe Feedback Forum the idea of offering prepaid BlackBerry service. I even bombarded my Twitter followers and even FaceBook friends asking them to vote for the said “idea” so that Globe will take notice and act. Up to now, I haven’t heard from Globe. I don’t know if they’re even considering the idea.

So, now I present to you Smart’s Unlimited BlackBerry Prepaid Plans! This service is somewhat similar to what Malaysia’s Xpax is offering.

I’m not really a fan of chocolates. But, whenever my mom would bring home chocolates I couldn’t resist to take a bite. Besides, chocolate does wonders on one’s mood and or feelings. Giving chocolates to show appreciation is also sweet and heartwarming, right?

Did you know that in 2006, Reader’s Digest conducted the “Great Reader’s Digest Global Courtesy Test” and among the 25 countries who participated in the said test, Manila ranked #22 land it in the least courteous list. Have we forgotten to say “Thank yous” to show appreciation and show gratefulness? Good thing, Toblerone started the fist National Thank You Day in October 20, 2007 and is now celebrated annually.

National Thank You Day Awards 2009 held November 20, 2009 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall

This year’s celebration of the National Thank You Day is made even more special with the introduction of the first National Thank You Day Awards held November 20 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, which aims to recognize outstanding individuals who the Filipino think deserve the country’s sincerest Thank You. For this year’s awards, among the nominees are People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao, the late Francis M., Comedy King Dolphy, Daniel Razon, Efren Peñaflorida and former President Corazon Aquino.

Alongside with the awards, a photo competition was also held called “Spread the Sweetness of Gratitude Photo Competition.”

Winners are: Remi Ann Sta. Cruz’s “My Best Playmate Ever,” Jordana Quedding’s “Walang Iwanan,” and Pat Lorico’s “Smooch and Pooch.”

It was then revealed that the First National Thank You Day Award goes to Former President Corazon C. Aquino (Posthumous).

The award was accepted by Ms. Viel Aquino-Dee. I didn’t expect anyone from the Aquino family to accept the award. I was really going ballistic in my seat during the program because I want to have my picture taken with Viel Aquino-Dee. Star struck talaga. Praise the Lord because I was able to approach her and had my picture taken even though a group of media people is already mobbing her.

Thank you to my sister Dianne for taking this super fantabulous photo. Thank you always to our digital camera (and the memory card) for not acting up!

If there’s one thing I usually buy from the nearby 7-Eleven that would be the 7-Eleven Hotdog Sandwich. As I’ve said on my previous post, I “binge-eat” a lot! There are times, when I would gobble two hotdog sandwiches while drinking a cup of 7-Eleven not-so-pricey brewed coffee in one sitting. Weird combination, I know! Besides, I have a weird palate, so you really can’t blame me.

When I heard about 7-Eleven’s Big Bite Match— The 1st Big Bite Hotdog-Eating Contest, I got really excited. No, I have no intentions in joining that hotdog-eating contest. I got really excited because of the Big Bite Combo! For P150, you get five hotdog sandwiches and a big Gulp drink. I’m not really sure if the promo is still ongoing. But, seriously, the 7-Eleven Hotdog Sandwich with ketchup and Manhattan dressing is addicting.

Enough with my 7-Eleven Hotdog Sandwich addiction. :P

In other 7-Eleven news, 7-Eleven crowned the First Filipino Gurgitator last November 14, Saturday, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall during the finals of 7-Eleven’s Big Bite Challenge. I witnessed how the 25 “eating machines” from around the country gobble tons of hotdog sandwiches to be named as the “First Filipino Gurgitator.” The Big Bite Match is HUGE! In the end, Leopoldo Quinto, Jr. from Baclaran 4 7-Eleven store brought home P500,000 after eating 13 hotdogs during the initial round and another 4 hotdogs during the tie-breaker with Kyle De Guzman of Dagupan 7-Eleven Store.

Kyle De Guzman (left), the first runner up, brought home P150,000.00.

Here’s the complete list of winners:

1st Place – Leopoldo Quinto Jr. (P500,000)
2nd Place – Kyle de Guzman (P150,000)
3rd Place – Edwin Duque
4th Place – John Paul Argoncillo
5th Place – Alejandro Villarino,
6th Place – Jose Rivera
7th Place – Domingo Beltrano

PS: I also love 7-Eleven’s brewed coffee and flavored coffee, especially the Blueberry Tea Latte!

So, how does one shift from a sedentary lifestyle to an active lifestyle? I cannot say that I have an active lifestyle. I actually spend most of my waking hours in front my laptop checking and responding to e-mails, connecting with friends, blogging, and studying to name a few. Despite this, I still devote a fraction of my time dancing, doing yoga, and walking.

The last time I checked, my body mass index is normal. But you see, I “binge-eat” a lot! At home, we have this thing that we call “Fastfood Friday,” I’m sure you know what we (my siblings and I) meant by that. Staying in front of my laptop and bingeing on food is not a good thing. Fortunately, I’m not gaining too much weight maybe because there are many food products out there that have L-Carnitine. So, maybe I have a sedentary lifestyle? I’m not sure.

Health is really something that all of us should give attention to because good health condition is what keeps us going. Having a sedentary lifestyle is not ideal for our body. Admit it or not, health is something that many people have ignored (intentionally or unintentionally). But, it is nice to see that the trend nowadays is to “go natural” in order to achieve optimal health veering away from harmful chemicals and toxins present in our environment and even in the food we eat.

It is never to late to shift from a sedentary lifestyle to an active lifestyle. Through proper diet and exercise, combined with the help of all-natural food supplements, one can jumpstart his/her way to an active lifestyle.
